These are not my words, but I agree. I urge you to take action. Everyone deserves equal access and opportunity to good healthcare. Matthew 25: 31-46.
“ATTN! All med students, residents, fellows, physicians, providers:
It’s happening – this is what we’ve been dreading since November. Just over a month ago, the US House of Representatives voted to pass the new administration’s American Health Care Act by a TINY margin (the 217 Ayes were all Republican, the 213 Nays comprised of all 193 Democratic Congressmen plus 20 Republicans). Now the Senate is working on their version… haven’t heard of it? Well, that’s because no one has seen it or knows what’s in it – not even Tom Price. Yet the Senate authors are hoping to blindly VOTE on it, perhaps before the end of the month. All they need is a simple majority – and no filibustering allowed for a reconciliatory bill, which makes it that much easier to slide through.
If you believe health care is a human right, I urge you to take out 30 seconds of your life today to put your name on this letter and convey your thoughts to our US Senators, who will receive this in hard copy a week from today. Read, sign, and share. Spread the word in team workrooms, on email list-servs, with social media posts. Your input may sway one vote, and – with 52 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and 2 Independents in our Senate – that may make all the difference in the lives of millions of people.
Every. Voice. Counts.
